Hey Minneapolis Guy,
Good to see you out there. So here’s a Minneapolis question for you: What’s up with getting some groceries downtown? How’s that Lund’s doing and what about the Whole Foods rumor? Can I get a turkey on my way home next Wednesday?

Thanks for stopping by Joanne. A quick check of http://www.lundsandbyerlys.com is full of great info for grabbing the goods for Turkey day next week. Order on-line and pick up a heat-n-serve meal at the store. The “On Sale Today” flyer shows the sale prices on just about everything you need if you decide to do the cooking yourself – including a guide for the right size bird for your party.
Without making up any numbers, the word from East Bank and Downtown dwellers is that Lunds on University is a great store and usually plenty busy. The store planned for Hennepin and 12th is pretty well off the radar after it’s long-awaited opening and no-news delays.
The word on Whole Foods is still good – it’ll be a 45,000 sq ft store (small by Whole Foods standards) on the old Jag dealership location. The condo tower planned over the top (initally called Two Twenty Two) will be built on a smaller scale as for-rent housing with the plan to convert to condos when the market is right. The much publicized interest from Best Buy for that location has moved to the city center. The site plan still includes retail, but anchors and others haven’t been named if they’ve been secured.
Happy Thanksgiving.
